Leslierahye's Very Fall Steampunk Blog Hop

 

 

I love the fall and am so happy that today is the first day of the new season.  What better way to celebrate than with some more "firsts" today.  Right?  This is also my first steampunk blog hop, my first mixed media canvas and even the first time I used some of the tools to create it.  I have always loved all things steampunk and am excited to join this blog hop to share my project with you.  This turned out being a very quick project for me as I had ordered some things and my box was delayed once it arrived in  my area.  It was tough knowing that it was so close and I couldn't be using it to create the idea that was in my head!   

 

The canvas had already been prepped so all I needed to do at this point to finish it was to paint it black.  The gears were cut from bronze and white gold cardstocks using the Sizzix Alterations Gear die.  The gentlemen were stamped using the Steampunk stamps by Tim Holtz and the skin tones were added with colored pencils.   The leaves were cut from handmade sheets of paper and I decided to place them among the gears to look like they were being caught up and spun in them.  This little canvas now sits on my desk which is also painted black.  I'm thinking that once spring hits again that I may use this piece as inspiration and give the desk a fresh coat of black paint and add a few gears and other steampunk pieces to the top of it before finishing it off with a piece of glass to cover it all.
