All Things Spooky & Creative Paperclay Blog Hop

Welcome to Peg's Crafting Corner.  I am so glad you have stopped by today.

I was so excited to be invited to join the Creative Paperclay blog hop.  Halloween in my family is all about the scare factor.  We love the spooky movies, the decorations and whatever we can find to have fun for Halloween.  One thing my son likes are the plastic and ceramic skulls you often find this time of year. I had run through several ideas, but kept coming back to making a skull. I remembered that I had a skull rubber ice cube tray that I never used so decided to mold the skull in it by pressing the clay into it to get the details.  It was a better idea than I first thought!  Don't you love it when a plan comes together?  The clay picked up all of the details of the mold and all I had to do was allow it to dry.  Once it had dried, I lightly brushed some of my favorite glitter paint over it, then, gave it a light sanding to take some back off.  This gave the skull the old weathered look. Of course, he had to have glowing eyes to create the "scare" so I added some red Dew Drops from one of my favorite companies, The Robin's Nest.  I created the background for him to have a place to rest and now it is a small sign sitting to greet our guests at the door.

Please continue to have fun on the hop and if you need to find your way through the entire hop, you can start at the beginning on the Creative Paperclay Blog

Have a spooky good time!

  3. I have some of those silicone ice things lying around. Never even thought about using them as molds even though it is clearly a darn good idea! Thanks for sharing!
