Isn't this a beautiful butterfly? Can you believe it's a button? That's right! This is one of the awesome buttons created by Charlene from Charlene's Button Box. It was the perfect embellishment to finish this card I created. I love these buttons! They are so fun to add to cards and layouts and are the perfect choice to add a little dimension to your projects. They can also be used on sewing projects and so much more. Excited to Announce A New Crafty Partnership

For several years I enjoyed and purchased fun shaped buttons created by Charlene to add to my cards and layouts. I was so disappointed when my scrapbooking store closed and that I would not be able to pick up a few buttons each time I was there. One day, while reading a post Charlene had made on her blog, I decided to email her. Over the last several months, we kept in touch to work out the details for our new adventure. Now with great pleasure and with the start of this new year, I am excited to announce that Charlene and I have teamed up and I will be designing for her and featuring her fabulous buttons here on my blog several times per month! How fun is that? I am so excited to be designing for Charlenes Button Box! Two Cool Projects

One Amazing Company, One Fabulous Card and One Tutorial Just For You!

The Robin's Nest is a great place to find gorgeous paper, fun chipboard pieces, bling (gotta love the bling) and so much more! They have patterned paper with and without glitter, Dew Drops which are fabulous additions to any card or layout and even die cuts. Check out The Robin's Nest store to find all kinds of amazing products that will be guarnteed to get your creativity flowing.

Here is a napkin fold card that I made using some of the amazing paper and Dew Drops from The Robin's Nest.

To create this napkin fold card you will need:

From The Robin's Nest:

Glitter Snowflake Stripe Paper

White Snow Glitter Cardstock

Glitter Winter Snowflake Paper

Cotton Candy Dew Drops

Hillside Mini Dews

Dew Dew Glue

30 Inches of Blue Ribbon- I suggest this beautiful velvet ribbon from The Robin's Nest

12 x 12 piece of blue cardstock for card base

Your favorite tape runner and glue

Tools needed:

Scoring Board and Scoring Tool

Paper Trimmer

Ink Pad

Favorite Holiday Greeting Stamp

To make the card base:

1.To create the card base start with a 12 x 12 piece of black cardstock and score at 3” and 9” , rotate a half turn and score again at these measurements. Fold the paper at the score lines making sure to get a crisp fold.

2. Mark the center of the square that is in the middle of the paper. The center mark should be at 3”.

3. Fold the corners into the center mark making sure the sides in between the corners meet as closely as possible.

4. Now unfold the paper and you will see a triangle in the center of each flap. With the paper open, fold the point of the triangle up to the center mark and crease the fold well. Do this on all 4 sides.

Folding the point of the triangle upward, it will cause the corners to fold inward. The next thing will be to fold the corners down so they lay flat and form a square which will look like these pictures.

The corners will look like this as you are folding them in.

You will have to open the folds to the left and right of your last fold up a little to help get the last fold correct.

Your card should now look like this when you release it.

Fold each of the corner pieces in half down towards the edge of the paper like this.

Here is what you card should look like at this point.

6. Using 3 sheets of patterned paper cut:

Two 2 ¾ “x 2 ¾” squares. (This is the Glitter Snowflake paper on the corners of this card.)

One 5 ½” x 5 ½” squares (This is the Glitter Snowflake patterned paper on this card.)

One 3 ¾” x 3 ¾” square (This is the White Snow Glitter Cardstockon this card.)

One 3 ¾” x 3 ¾” square (This is the Glitter Winter Snowflake patterned paper on this card.)

For the next few steps use this picture as a reference while you work.

7. Cut the 5 ½” squares (orange patterned paper) in half and then half again to get 4 triangles. Adhere them, using the tape runner, around the center square of the black card stock.

8. Cut the 3 ¾” square (black striped patterned paper) into 8 triangles and adhere to card. Repeat this step with the orange grid patterned paper until you have 4 triangles.

9. Cut the 2 ¾” square (the skulls) into triangles until you 4 of them to adhere to the corners.

10. Cut a square of cardstock 5 ¾” x 5 ¾” to put in the center square.

11. Cut a strip of the Glitter Snowflake paper to 2 ¼” x 12”12. Find the center of the strip of paper and make a small mark at the center point. Cut a 30”piece of ribbon and find the center of it. Using Aleene’s Tacky Glue run a small line of glue across the middle of the Glitter Snowflake paper. After finding the center on both the paper and the ribbon glue them together and work your way to the edges of the 1” x 12” strip. You will have some ribbon that hangs over at each end of the cardstock that will be used to tie the card closed.

13. Stamp the greeting on using your favorite stamp and blue ink.

14. Add the Cotton Candy Dew Drops and Hillside Mini Dews using the Dew Dew Glue to the center and corners of the card as shown in the picture.

Here is a sneak peak at my project that I created for the Amazing Mold Putty blog. I love using their products! It is so fun to create things using their resins and mold putty. I have so much fun finding things that I can use to make into a mold now. It's like a scavenger hunt to find things. It's the great pumpkin and a chance to win

This is a pumpkin I created recently using the fun and very addicting Amazing Mold Putty products. I am now looking everywhere for things to mold and make into resin. For this, I started by making a mold using a styrofoam pumpkin I purchased at my local dollar store. Welcome to the Ghoultide Blog Hop! If you are just joining us on the hop you will want to go back to the beginning and start at Angela's blog. I am so happy to be able to be part of the Ghoultide hop!

I love the month of October and Halloween so I'm always excited to dig out my Halloween crafting tools or even buy a few new ones and get to creating. The spooky die cut was a new tool for me this year. It is a Spellbinders die and I just couldn't resist owning it. This year, one of the new items I really was excited over was the Echo Park Apothecary Line. I have had so much fun with the paper and the matching stickers on several projects already. The diamond shaped paper you see on this card that I created for the hop is just one of the sheets from it. I decided to make this card on the "dark" side using mostly black and then wanted to add a little splash of colors to make the design pop off the cardbase. If you'd like to see more of the Apothecary Line be sure to click the link and check it out. It's one of this year's to die for Halloween paper lines!

Welcome Fall Layout

I love fall. It's one of two of my favorite seasons. One thing my family enjoys doing is visiting some of our state parks. I love to take pictures while we are there. These pictures were of an exceptional fall day we had a few years ago. I decided to print them out and created this layout recently using the absolutely amazing products from The Robin's Nest and those pictures. A little black magic technique with Viva Las Vegastamps

If you have never been to Viva Las Vegastamps it's a must to go! If you are a stamp lover (like I am) be sure to head over there and check them out. They have literally hundreds of stamps and related items. You even have several options of how to purchase your stamps- mounted, unmounted, etc. Once you are there you will ask yourself how you ever missed this place! Don't forget to check out their blog, too. It's full of fun and fantastic ideas!

Today I want to share a technique I've fallen head over heals for using their stamps. The technique is called, " Black Magic." After seeing it, I'm sure you'll want to try it, too, so be sure to head over to their site and get some fun new stamps to use while trying this out.

I made this 5" x7" card using the Bear in the Woods Stamp from Viva Las Vegastamps.

Supplies Needed For the technique:

A stamp

Stamp block

White Ink Pad

Colored Pencils-Your Choice- Watercolor, Regular Colored Pencils, Etc.

To do the technique:

1. Ink stamp with white ink and stamp onto black cardstock. Allow to dry completely.

2. Using the colored pencils color the stamped image leaving some areas white. Use darker colors near the edges and move into light colors toward the center of your image if you have a stamp with a large solid area. Smaller areas that are left white allow the image to stand out more. I chose to use pencils that require a blending pencil to even out the strokes for this card. This is what the image will look like when finished:

You will now have a colored stamped image that will make your card pop.

To complete the card:

1.Cut cardstock and fold in half for cardbase and distress the edges to give it a rustic look.

2.Crumple the kraft cardstock and ink edges at the folds. Unfold and recrumple in different direction and ink those edges. Unfold and lay flat.

3.Adhere everything to card base.

A Toadally Fun Card for The Robin's Nest

I loved making this card for The Robin's Nest. When I got the idea my mind just went wild with how to create it and then as I worked on it I kept changing things and adding more to it. Don't you just love when your creativity runs wild? I knew what products I wanted to use for it and even bought the wave punch just to make this card. A birthday card

I made this birthday card for my mom. When I was growing up she loved to sew and made my dresses and a lot of my clothes. I love those memories of that! When I found these stamps recently I knew I wanted to use them for her card and then added the punched buttons to the inside to continue the sewing theme there, too. She loved the card when I gave it to her.

An eye catching card

This is a peak of the card I made for my project this week over at The Chattering Robin's blog. I recently received the ballerina punch and thought that the glitter chipboard from The Robin's Nest would be pretty to punch. This chipboard is so easy to punch it's unbelievable! I was thrilled with the ease of it and how pretty it looks on this card. I used the Dew Drops to create the stars after reading posts of how some on the design team were using theirs so I wanted to try it, too, and thought it would add even more sparkle to this card, not to mention the fact I love the Robin's Nest Dew Drops. Back to school time

It's almost that time of year again. The summer is gone quickly and before we know it it will be the first day of school soon. I decided that it would be a great idea to kick off the school year right by making this cute little back pack from the tutorial I found over at Splitcoast Stampers by Mary Arima. I used the fabulous products from The Robin's Nest to do it. If you'd like to make your own for your child or children be sure to head over to the Chattering Robin's Blog where you can find the list of products I used and the links to Mary's tutorial including the templates. That way you can start the school year off right, too. A Stamped Bag

A while back while reading the newspaper I saw an ad for a stamping club in a small nearby town. Being one who loves to stamp I wanted to go and check it out which I had the opportunity to do on Friday. Three people did 4 different stamped projects and then the group got to make those items. This is one of them I did. We stamped using sponges and ink onto the bag to add a little color behind each of the 4 squares and then stamped, punched and blinged the images. Everyone is so nice in the group and I had so much fun. I plan on attending again next month and am already looking forward to it.

Having some Father's Day Fun Card

I realized that I haven't posted the card my son and I made to give to my husband. My husband and son spend a lot of time together enjoying video game playing. His birthday is in May so my son pre-ordered one of his favorite video games back in March to later find out that the release date had been pushed back. Since we had decided to give it to him for his birthday, he was going to have to wait for it unfortunately. It ended up being that he would get the game 2 days after Father's Day. It was a long wait for him and our son and I didn't help that wait by constantly reminding him how many more days until he got it and things like that. Well, to top it off with just 2 days left with excitement we decided to make him a Father's Day card all about his favorite video game and this is what we came up with for it. He absolutely loves the card and had a big laugh over it. The first picture is the outside of the card and the second one is the inside. I photo edited the words into them.

Challenge Fun

I was recently chosen to participate in the Unibind Facebook challenge. For the challenge, I was sent 4 of the pieces that are cut out to create the windows in a scrapbook album. We were challenged to get creative and see what we can do with the pieces. I have to admit these are the 2 favorites of mine. My family recently attended the Titanic exhibit and I realized the oval piece would make the perfect embellishment for one of the pages I'm working on or for the album I hope to one day complete. I may do a little more on it. I'd like to add something to make the letters stand out more. The wall hanging was made to match the altered dust pan I shared here in a past post. I had some leftover Graphic 45 paper from that project and this piece fit perfectly on it. The twine was something that was sent for the challenge and I added the lace and Prima flower to finish it off. It has now become part of my craft area decor along with the dust pan.

I have been searching the net a lot lately and thanks to Michelle I found a great place to purchase patterned paper, glittered chipboard pieces,glittered cardstock and more that I just have to share with everyone here. It's The Robin's Nest (click on the logo above and it will take you to The Robin's Nest Shop) and for even more fun check out their blog. If you haven't ever heard of them be sure to take a look around the site. It's a definite must!

Today I want to share the projects I made using items from The Robin's Nest. I am so excited about both of them.

The first is an ice cream sundae card. I have made this into a shaped card technique tutorial so you can make one, too.

Supplies Needed to Make Both Card and Bag: (Click on the word"Purchase" at the end of each item and it will take you to The Robin's Nest where you can look at and buy those items)

1 piece of Red Sorbet Glitter Cardstock from The Robin's Nest "Purchase"

1 piece of Shocking Pink Sorbet Glitter Cardstock from The Robin's Nest "Purchase"

1 piece of Girl Paper Patterned Paper from The Robin's Nest "Purchase"

1 package Chipboard Sundaes from The Robin's Nest "Purchase"

1 piece of heavy cardstock-I chose Core'dinations Gemstones The Crown of Jewels Cardstock ***Purchased from local scrapbook store***

Tools Needed:

Paper Trimmer

Craft Knife

Black Fine Tip Marker

Ink for stamping sentiment and inking edges of sundae

Stamping Block

Sentiment Stamp

Scoreboard helpful, but not necessary

To Make Card:

1. Fold cardstock in half. Flip chipboard sundae piece backwards so glittered side is facing paper and place on fold line. Trace with pencil.

2. Cut sundae from cardstock making sure not to cut on fold line where sundae touches edge of paper. **Refer to photo**

3. Making sure sundae 'template" is face down, trace ice cream onto Pink Sorbet paper, cherry onto Red Sorbet paper and dish onto Girl Paper. Adhere to cardstock.

4. Using black fine tip marker trace edge of cherry and around sides and bottom of dish. Add dotted lines under ice cream.

5. Ink edges of icream with pink ink. (I used Worn Lipstick Distress Ink by Ranger)

6. Using a clear color of Stickles place a small dot on dish for a little sparkly reflection.

7. Stamp sentiment inside of card using black ink. ( I used Black Soot Distress Ink by Ranger)

To Make the Bag:

This is a quick and easy bag to make. I found the initial instructions online from several places and then adapted them to create my own design.

1. Cut 2 pieces of cardstock 12"x11".

2. Score both pieces on the 12" side at 2" and 10" and on the 11" side at 2".

3. On 1 piece cut the corners completely out where the score lines meet.

4. On the second piece cut on the score lines from the sides inwards.

5. Fold bag and adhere edges and bottom.

6. Cut two 2" strips from Girl Patterned Paper and using a border punch; punch border. Adhere to top of bag making sure paper is above bag edge.

7. Punch 2 holes on each side bag for handles. Cut 2 pieces of ribbon the same length and push through holes. Knot each end of the inside of the bag.

8. Decorate bag using sundae with Dew Drops glued on.

9. Make 3 tags using a tag punch or die and different paper colors. Cut 2 tags at different lengths and use a border punch of the bottom edges of both to decorate. Adhere to long tag.

10. Stamp on sentiment and glue on one of the Dew Drops that came with the sundaes. Adhere tag to bag.

Now you are ready for the next time you have a special gift and occasion that needs that extraordinary card and bag to go with it. Don't forget...to check out The Robin's Nest. I guarantee you won't be sorry.

June's Sketch Challenge

I realized the other day that I have been on the Scrapping Stamper's Sketch Challenge team for 6 months now and have been having so much fun doing it. Cards for Father's Day

Father's Day is this Sunday so I have been busy this week making some cards for the 3 special fathers in our life. These cards are for my dad and my father-in-law. I have one I'm making for my husband, but that's still a secret as I know he reads my blog, too. I enjoy stamping and paper tearing so I thought I'd use these techniques on these cards. I decided to do a little embossing on the waves to make them look like the sunset was shining off the white caps. I wasn't sure about it once I did it, but after a while I liked it more and more. It was so much fun making these. Now just to decide who gets which card. That's always a tough decision when I make fun cards like these. Happy Father's Day to all of the fathers out there!

Altered Wooden Purses

I have this thing for wooden purses. I love to paint them, alter them or do whatever I can with them. I have one or two more unfinished ones tucked away just waiting for me and am always looking to find more. These are 2 of my favorite ones. I painted the one on the left several years ago. I had wanted to learn some new painting techniques and decided that the purse I had sitting there would be perfect to put this design on. It took me forever to find just the handle I wanted for it, but when I found the one that is now on it I knew that was what was needed to complete all the work I had just done on that purse. The one on the right I altered recently using Graphic 45 papers and Prima flowers. I had the old lace trim in a box of sewing items from my mom. Originally it was just too white and bright for the vintage look I was hoping for with the purse so I used some left over coffee to dye the lace and it turned out just the right color to go with the vintage look. I am really hooked on giving plain, wooden purses a new look or a look all of their own so I'm sure there will be a lot more of them in my future. Now just to figure out where to keep them all.

Going Batty

I was having some fun making a few Halloween cards recently. I figured it was never too early to start on those fun party invites. One of my favorite things to make are shaker windows so I couldn't resist making one and adding a few flying bats. They aren't my favorite creatures but it sure fun getting to shake them up in this card at Halloween.

Scrapping the every day things

I'm often looking for pictures of the holidays to use and forget that the every day events should be scrapped, too. This year we had to put a new roof on our house and I needed to take pictures for our files so I decided to also scrap them. It is such a big difference from the old roof to the new and puts us a step closer to really having the house the way we dream of it. I was able to use some of the old nails by cutting off the tips to include on the layout. I plan on doing another layout using some of the old shingles. We found that the one layer they took off dates back to the 1940's. It was a long process for us to get it finished, but we are happy with the results and I'm so glad I have these "every day" memories to scrap of one of our first major home renovation projects.

The sketch and all of the work for the Scrapping Stamper's design team have been revealed. This was such a fun sketch for me as a cardmaker over there. It was a 2 page sketch for a layout that I managed to use on a card. I am so pleased how it turned out and in. Little hint there. Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all moms out there! I've had the opportunity to spend a nice, quiet day at home with my family and I'm loving it. This is a card that I made for my mom. I was so thrilled over the reaction from her (and my dad) over it. They just loved it. I pulled the colors and watercolor look from the patterned paper into the inside of the card by using Distress inks which helped to tone down the paper I used for the sentiment and made the card flow better from outside in. May Day Cone

It's almost May. Can you believe it? Summer is fast approaching even though the weather has yet to show us spring. We've had a lot of April showers so hopefully we'll have some great May flowers. In honor of May Day and the beautiful flowers that I hope to soon see I made this cone using Core'dinations White Wash Collection (just gotta love Core'dinations) and the these gorgeous Prima flowers. I just love the texture of the Core'dinations after sanding it and then being able to see the core on the inside of the cone. A little kitchen help

My family buys groceries monthly and I'm always having pieces of loose paper laying around with things we need to get on the grocery list. Then, when I do finally get around to making out the list I can't seem to find the paper or there are things that I never got written down and we end up forgetting those items. I decided to put a stop to that and made this fun dry erase board for our kitchen. Our kitchen has black counters and lots of orange on the walls and throughout so I made the board to match it. Once I had done all the stamping and embellishments I ran it through my Purple Cow Laminator which made it into a dry erase board. Now when anyone in the family sees that something needs to be added to the list he or she just goes and writes it down. We even use it to keep track of menu ideas for the month. A Card and The No Housework Day Winner

Thanks to everyone who left a comment and signed up to be a follower. I enjoyed reading each and every comment from the blog hop. I took the total number of comments and asked my son to pick a number and he chose #21 so the winner is..... Sue! Congratulations Sue! I will be getting your prize in the mail this week. Now for a card. I made this card recently for a message board online crop. The requirements of the challenge were to use 1 piece of cardstock, 2 stamps, 3 inks, 4 pieces of patterned paper and 5 embellishments. I used the pink cardstock, the dotted frame stamp and the sentiment stamp, green, pink and black ink, 2 sheets of Basic Grey papers cut into triangles and assembled into a square and the 5 embellishments ended up being-the brads, the flowers, the pearls in the center of the flowers, the butterfly and the button. It was quite the challenge to come up with all of this and have everything work together, but in the end I was happy with how the card ended up looking.

My Core'dinations Creative Frenzy

I have been on a creating frenzy lately using Core'dinations Cardstock! The first time I ever had the chance to use Core'dinations Cardstock was when I did a Cuttlebug demo for my LSS. The owner gave me some of the cardstock to run through the machine to introduce the new embossing plus folders. The very first time I ran the cardstock through and sanded it I knew I was in love with Core'dinations. Fast forward now to several weeks ago and my parents coming for a visit. When my mom arrived she handed me 3 packs of cardstock and too my delite I found that she had just handed me my all time favorite Core'dinations Cardstock in the Black Magic Hocus Pocus, White Wash and Chocolate Box collections. I knew there were some fun crafing times ahead for me. Since then, I have created these using some of each collection and want to share them. One of the things I love the most about Core'dinations is that it likes what I like-tearing, embossing, sanding and distressing. You can do those things and so much more to this cardstock which creates a whole new level of fun in crafting!

One of my favorite times of year is Halloween. Recently I had my spider web embossing folder laying on my craft table since it hadn't gotten put back in the box I keep them in and my new cardstock calling for me so I grabbed them both and created this treat bag. I like to emboss Core'dinations and then bring out the inner core by sanding it. It just breathes life into the embossing. I know it's a little early for Halloween, but like I said it's one of my favorite times so I make things when the ideas hit me and just pull them out when fall arrives.

Recently, I was at Joann's and found these cute little plastic flowers for $1.00 a box. Well, I can't pass up a bargain like that so I took what they had left. When I checked out they rang up at only 50 cents a box to my delite. The little acetate boxes they came in were too hard to store on my craft table so I picked up this little paper mache box and painted it. It was too plain and just didn't fit in with things on my table so I used my White Wash Core'dinations to add the diamond pattern by cutting 1" squares and sanding them. The edge of the lid was still too empty so I cut a strip of White Wash and started sanding away to reveal the gorgeous pink underneath and added it to the edge. I knew even though it would sit on my table I would never remember what was inside so I added a couple of the flowers and now the box was complete. I know without using the White Wash cardstock on it, this box would still be just a plain little box that I wouldn't be happy with, but by adding the cardstock it just made the whole thing pop.

This box is one of my favorite projects. I found the instructions for this cute little box at Splitcoaststampers and printed them out, but have had them sitting here for quite a long time. I realized that I had the perfect cardstock for this project. It was my Core'dinations Chocolate Box collection. One thing I like is old things and I wanted this box to have that old feel and look to it. The more I sanded it the more it took on that old look I was hoping for. The intention for this box is to hold cards and envelopes. I have been wanting to make a card using this cardstock so thought this was the perfect time to do it. I wanted the aged look for the cards, too. I gave the cardbase a quick sanding to reveal the gorgeous color underneath and then went about distressing the edges. I was on cloud 9 doing this! The more I distressed the better and rougher look it got on the edges. Yea! I added the patterned paper and then chose some of the cardstock to run through my cuttlebug and embossing plus folder for the sentiment. I gave it a good sanding which gave it that old, distressed look to match the card and the box!

I don't often fall "in love" with products, but I can say that I have definitely fallen head over heals for Core'dinations Cardstock. I can say it is the best and most fun to use for all kinds of projects. There will always be some on my craft table that's for sure!

A New Project A New Learned Technique

I enjoy different challenges on message boards and blogs. I recently participated in a challenge to learn a new technique I've wanted to try and make a card using it. Well, I've always wanted to try black magic. The black magic technique! This is the card I made using it. One thing that I learned is that the more fine details such as the little dots that you have on a stamp and leave white the more it stands out. This card has been added to my list of favorite cards I've made.

Painted Rose Box

Another hobby of mine is painting so I belong to a local painting club. Each year we have an auction to raise funds to bring in guest artists and cover other costs in the club. This is one of the boxes that I painted for this year's auction. I usually avoid roses as they are harder to paint, but since I decided this year one of my crafting goals was going to be to step outside my comfort zone and try some new things, I thought I'd try my hand at them.

February's Scrapping Stamper's Sketch Challenge

I can't wait to see real butterflies around here again. I had fun getting creative with the sketch and turning it on its side to make this. Layouts of fun

I had some fun recently using sketches from a contest I wanted to enter. I originally made 3 layouts and was having so much fun and on a roll that I did 3 more. Today I was notified that I was one of the winners of the contest and will be receiving $250 in papercrafting supplies. I am so excited! In doing these layouts I made myself think outside of my comfort zone and try some new things and it paid off. I ended up with 6 great layouts. These layouts are some of my favorites that I have ever made and what makes it the most special thing for me is that the pictures are of fun times and trips my family had last year.

A quick card challenge

This was a quick card I made for a message board I'm on. The challenge was to make a card for one of the AFC or NFC teams that were in the playoffs. I chose the Steelers because one of the players on the team used to play for the college team my family likes.

3 New Basic Grey Cards and Classes

These are 3 of the 12 cards I will teaching in the Basic Grey Card of the Month class at The Scrapbooking Studio. I think the new Curio Paper by Basic Grey is so pretty. After creating with it I'm sure ready for spring.

Altered Picture Frames

These are 2 unfinished wood picture frames that I finished for Christmas gifts. When I found the paper I knew that was going to be the inspiration for the project and was so excited when I was able to find embellishments that had the same shiny copper color in them. The paint was a little harder to match in color, but this color was unbelievably close and I love that it is metallic paint to give the frame a little shine. Now, hopefully, the store still has all the pieces of this project after Christmas and I can get back there because my husband, son and I like it so much we want one, too. My name is Peg and I have been a part of The Lime Light team for the past 2 years. It has been a big part of my crafting life and I am so happy to be a part of it. I have always enjoyed making things since I was young and over the years worked on many different things from painting shirts (painting is still one of the hobbies I do yet today) to cake designing and I even went to school to become a Certified Chocolatier. Twas the Night Before Christmas Stand

I love the story of The Night Before Christmas. It's such a favorite of mine that I have it memorized. Over the years, I have done several projects based on this story. One year, I decorated a small artificial tree with gingerbread ornaments that depicted the story. This year I found Graphic 45 had this fabulous sheet of paper out and just had to have it. I planned this piece around that paper. After purchasing the unfinished stand I painted it to match the paper. I'm also a big fan of bling so I chose mod podge that has sparkle in it to adhere it and added rhinestones to the flourishes. Tragic Magic by Laura Childs

I love to read and my favorite author is definitely Laura Childs. From the very first page of the book her writing style draws you in and captures you to the point that you can't put the book down. I have found this with every one of her books. Many of them I have reread because they are so good and I enjoy them each and every time.

Laura has several series out-Scrapbook Mysteries, The Cackleberry Club and Tea Shop Mysteries. You can't go wrong in reading all of them. In fact, you won't want to miss reading them all.

Tragic Magic is book #7 in the Scrapbook Mysteries series. This series takes place in New Orleans with the main character being Carmela Bertrand, owner of Memory Mine scrapbook store, finding herself once again smack dab in the middle of a murder. She has been hired to take an old mansion and turn it into a Halloween haunted house, but what she finds is a flaming body being thrown from one of the windows and now she has to find out what has happened. You won't want to miss finding out how this murder comes about and who has done it and what Carmela has to do to keep herself out of trouble. It's a must read!

Hand Painted Ornament

Another hobby that I love is painting. I have been a painter for several years now and belong to a painting club. Each December we have a Christmas party and exchange ornaments with each other. Christmas Is Around the Corner

I had some free time the other day and made this card for a challenge board that I often participate on. The challenge theme was holiday cards and I wanted to make a different shaped card so I chose a house for the design. I decided to get really creative and put the gingerbread type roof on, but had to laugh at myself when I ended up gluing 40 -1 3/4" circles on trying to keep them in a straight line. The added touch of the glitter just says Christmas bling to me so I went crazy and added it all over. I had a lot of fun making this card and even though I had originally designed it in my mind and then drew it out on paper I still made a lot of changes to it and am glad it turned out to look like this. Santa Is Watching You Luminary

I have really been into making luminaries lately and this is one that I made for Christmas. My dh bought the stamp as an anniversary gift and I thought this was a perfect way to use it. One thing that I am finding that is so cool is that I am able to cut the windows very easily using Dies Direct's-Cheery Lynn Designs Stackers Die. I am using the square ones and after making the first cut with the die and my die cutting machine I move it a little to cut the square into a long rectangle. This has made making the luminaries so quick and easy!

A crazy, but fun week with the best ending!

This has been a crazy week for my family. We've worked on getting things ready for the winter here, I have worked on making a card and the cake for my dad's 80th birthday and had a lot of other things come up that I've had to give attention to this week, but last night was a just for me time and a ton of fun. I was able to go down to The Scrapbooking Studio and meet the very creative and talented Teresa Collins. She was demoing her new Stampmaker there and later taught a class plus 2 more today, but unfortunately I wasn't able to attend the classes. It was great just having the opportunity to meet her at the demo and will be something I will always remember. She is a very sweet person. It was the perfect way to end my busy week. Thanks Amy from The Scrapbooking Studio for setting up the opportunity for her to come!

Handmade Note Cards

Another hobby of mine is painting so I belong to a painting club in my area that is so much fun. The club enjoys being able to help out others and one of the events that each member donates painted, handcrafted or other items including gift cards to is a charity auction where all proceeds go to buy Christmas gifts for kids (teens imparticular) who are too old to qualify for the Toys for Tots program. All the items that are donated by the club members are made into gift baskets which are auctioned off to raise the money to buy the gifts. This year, I was asked to make some cards for the basket. I decided on this beautiful note card design from a book on watercolor painting, but instead I used my favorite colored pencils to make them. I made 3 of each design and will be including colored envelopes that match the flowers.

Happy Halloween Weekend!

I love the fall and decorating for Halloween. It's always a fun time for us-carving a pumpkin, , watching spooky shows and movies, getting some of the candy that's only out at this time of year and getting to see all the little trick-or-treaters in their cute costumes. What fun! This year, I found a challenge/contest that I wanted to create something for and enter so I made this creepy Halloween luminary. It's actually lit with a tea candle. Card I made for a Fiskateer Challenge

This is a card that I made for Lead Fiskateer Cheryl's Cloud9/Fiskars Together Again Challenge. The requirements for this challenge were to choose a Fall photo and use non-traditional seasonal colors on the item you make. I chose Spring and used pink and light green. You also had to have paint somewhere on your project so I painted a frame around the photo and painted 2 of the flourishes. Stamping was also requirement so I stamped the other 2 flourishes. We needed to use a border punch, too, so I used the Fiskars Vine punch and punched down the side of the pink background paper so it didn't look so plain over the top of the green paper. Another thing we needed to do was to use a tool that we hadn't used for a while. I chose my i-rock because I hadn't used it since I bought it. The patterned paper and the letters are from Colorbok and were perfect for this card. . This challenge turned out to be really fun and I love how this card looks.

Basic Grey Card Classes at The Scrapbooking Studio

The Butterfly Project How You Can Help and DT Call

The Lime Light Design Team is working on the Butterfly Project for the Houston Holocaust Museum. These are just a few of the butterflies I have done. The project is based on a poem written by a young concentration camp prisoner and the museum would like to honor all of the 1.5 million children that died during the Holocaust by placing butterflies throughout the entire museum. This is the poem which inspired the exhibit:

The Butterfly The last, the very last, So richly, brightly, dazzlingly yellow. Perhaps if the sun’s tears would sing against a white stone.... Such, such a yellow Is carried lightly ’way up high. It went away I’m sure because it wished to kiss the world good-bye. For seven weeks I’ve lived in here, Penned up inside this ghetto. But I have found what I love here. The dandelions call to me And the white chestnut branches in the court. Only I never saw another butterfly. That butterfly was the last one. Butterflies don’t live in here, in the ghetto. Pavel Friedman, June 4, 1942 Born in Prague on Jan. 7, 1921. Deported to the Terezin Concentration Camp on April 26, 1942. Died in Aushchwitz on Sept. 29, 1944.

There are a few guideline that the museum asks for the butterflies:

1.Butterflies should be no larger than 8 inches by 10 inches 2.Butterflies may be of any medium the artist chooses, but two-dimensional submissions are preferred (not a butterfly drawn on paper, but not a full 3-D pinata either--the end product should be shaped like a flat butterfly) 3.Glitter and all glitter-related products should not be used; Stickles actually can be used 4.Food products (cereal, macaroni, candy, marshmallows or other perishables) also should not be used 5.Please include your name on each butterfly 6.Involve your friends, church associates, scouting group...whomever you think might like to help.

Poinsettia Tag

I worked on this tag this weekend for a challenge I've entered. It was inspired by a project in a painting magazine I receive. The one in the magazine had a lattice pattern in the background area, but I decided not to put it in. I also painted around the hole in the tag. I was going to put a gold eyelet in, but didn't have one big enough to fit. I may just frame this tag as I love how it turned out and would like to display it maybe in my craft area.

Welcome to the Fiskateer Orange Blog Hop

If you have arrived at Peg's Crafting Corner from Tifany's (Fiskateer 5942) blog you have come to the right place. If you just found my little part of the crafting world by accident then you need to go to the Fiskateer Blog and start there. You don't want to miss out on any of the fun.

I had fun creating 2 cards for this hop and hope you enjoy them, too. I have been really busy lately and thought it would be nice to have some cards that are quick and easy to make so I chose designs that are really simple, but really eye catching.

On this first creation I used my Fiskars paper trimmer and Turkey Lurkey stamps to create this festive fall thank you card. I wanted a different look to the images so I stamped them on Fiskars Parchment paper and adhered the paper on the inside of the card after punching out the squares.

On my next card I wanted a little more elegant look, but wanted to keep to the simpleness of the card. I used my Fiskars Paper Trimmer and Parchment on this creation, too. I also added my Fiskars Shape Boss and Creation Sampler template to my list of tools used. This is the punch that I used on the corners of the orange paper, but unfortunately I do not know the name of the punch so I included a picture of it for you to see. The Butterfly Project

The Lime Light Design Team is proud to announce that we are again working on The Butterfly Project for the Houston Holocaust Museum. Not sure what The Butterfly Project is? Here's a little about it: The butterflies that are being created represent the 1.5 million children who perished in the Holocaust. The Houston Holocaust Museum is putting together the display entitled, "I Never Saw Another Butterfly." It is based on a poem found not long ago written by one of the children of the Holocaust. We are asking for everyone's help with this project. ATC Fun

It's been a while since I did any ATC's, but I love doing them. They can be quick and simple, but very fun and beautiful projects to do. I found a challenge over on Debby's Dare to make an ATC and I couldn't resist so I made these last night. I wanted to try out some new stamps I had received and thought these were the perfect time to use them. I love how the background turned out. I think that's my favorite part of them.

All in a "dies" work

I've been wanting to use my cricut, carts, cuttlebug and sizzix more often. I have a lot of fun each time I use them. Yesterday I found a challenge on Let's Capture Our Memories blog that went along with my wanting to use these more so I went for the challenge. As I've mentioned before I love a challenge. These are the cards and Halloween invitation I did. The apple card was made using my cuttlebug and the apple die. I also used my square punch (punches were allowed for the challenge, too. :) ) for the background of each apple. I embossed the green with my cb and cut the corners with my sizzix and one of their corner dies. The gift box card was all done using my cricut and Forever Young cart. I love that cart. I cut 2 pieces of the box large enough to make it into a card and held them together with a brad. I then added ink (on the inside) and bling to finish it. The Halloween invitation was made using my cricut and the new October 31st cart. This is a fun cart. The invitation has 3 parts to it. The little red arrows you see to lead the reader to the next part was done using my cuttlebug and the schoolhouse die. I didn't have anything with an arrow so I cut the top steeple off the schoolhouse to use as an arrow. I was so happy how well that worked out.

Hearts and Love Easel Card

This is an easel card I made for the challenge over at Your Next Stamp's Challenge Blog. I had been really thinking of what to make for this and I got the idea of using the heart from Sizzix and then it went from there and came together quickly. I used a stamp for the background and stamped in white ink. I have so much fun making easel cards and have been making quite a few lately.

Some of my favorites

As you all know I love stamps. My family calls me a stamp addict. Lol I've been enjoying the ones I have a lot lately. I'd like to share 3 of my favorite stamped pieces with all of you. I've been trying to do more layering lately and decided to die cut several pieces of different colored cardstock and glittered paper to create the frame for the candy corn (one of my favorite candies btw) which were handcut from patterned paper that I used Stickles on. The tag pieces were also die cut. I love that die and use it often. It makes good, quick bookmarks. I decided to get creative with the rose card by doing some paper tearing and heat embossing and I love how it turned out. I was pleased when I took the picture and saw the little sparkle from the embossing powder. It's funny that every time I look at the "Love" card I remember how small the wall stamp was and how I stamped it several times to cover the page and then colored each brick in. Isn't funny how when you look at something you make you remember when specific detail about it? That's what makes it handcrafted with love.

Bee Crafty Bag

This is a bag that I made for a recent challenge. The challenge was to add bling to anything and I've been wanting to make a bag to carry some of my things in so I did this. The pattern was originally for a 3-d clock and it had a saying about time with it. I wanted it instead to say something more about crafts so I changed the saying to fit the theme of my bag. It tooked me about a week to hand paint everything, but I sure enjoyed doing it.

Dress with style

These are a couple of cards that I made for display at Scrapbooking Studio. They were done to show examples of 2 of the new Tim Holtz's embossing folders. I just love to emboss things and the rich textures you can achieve with these folders are fabulous. At the time, I didn't have a dress die cut or anything so I created a template and cut them out by hand. I had so much fun getting creative with these.

Wearable Memories

My son and I were cleaning the other day and we found this shirt in our basement. I painted this when he was 3 or 4 years old and he is now 17. We remember him wearing it to the pumpkin patch, grocery store and even on Halloween. I was thrilled to find it after all these years since it holds so many special memories. I love a challenge! Card

One of the things I enjoy is to jump in on paper crafting challenges as I can. It may be on a message board I'm a member of or a blog I follow or places that I just like that have a challenge posted. Well, I found a message board challenge recently that required me to make fringe or grass for the project that was entered. This is the easel card I did for it. I went through many ideas and even started a few of them before I finally settled on this card and design. I'm glad that this was the one I entered because I really like it and it allowed me to buy a fun new tool. Lol

This is a layout that I did for a challenge on If It's Groovy. I really love this layout. This was the morning sunrise the day after we had a storm. I enjoyed this picture and doing this layout. Speaking of enjoying, I have enjoyed my time on If It's Groovy as a design team member, but unfortunately it is time for me to move on to some other things. I am hoping to be able to share some of my work as I can with the If It's Groovy group in a different way, but will no longer be there on a monthly basis. I appreciate all the friendships I have gained there and a big thanks to Deb for all of her encouragment to me and the teams she has allowed me to be on. I have been asked to join the design team of The Scrapbooking Studio in Moline, Illinois and am so excited about it. It's a new LSS that opened in my area just a few months ago and the owner Amy (she's great!) and I were talking about me bringing in some of my work for her to see. When I did she asked me to begin designing cards for the store that feature the stamps they carry. Of course, I couldn't say no...everyone knows I love stamps! For my first project, I decided to use each stamp and make 3 different card types to show how one stamp can be used, but decorated differently and different techniques used to make each one its own card. This is a picture of 3 cards I made using different techniques, but the same stamp. These and all of the other cards that I did (and will do) will be displayed through out the store. Now, I'm waiting for Saturday because Amy has some new stamps coming in tomorrow and I will be going to there to pick up some to work on my next project for her. I can't wait! It's going to be so much fun! Oh! Some more fun news. I will be teaching classes at The Scrapbooking Studio every few months, too!

Going through some pictures tonight

I was looking through the pictures stored on my computer and came across some that I have never shared. Here is one of them. This is an acrylic book that I made for an auction that my painting club does. The auction helps to raise funds so that we can bring in teachers to put on painting class for all of the members. I'm not sure what the album did go for as I wasn't able to attend the auction, but I know that the members of the painting club really liked it.

This is one of my fun cards. I had just bought the stamp and found the sticker in my stash and they just seemed to go together. Sometimes a girl just has to have fun and sport her 'tude. It's Rabbit Season

As Elmer Fudd says it's wabbit season and I caught this one. Yep, I painted him on this shirt. The painting club I belong to got together and had a day of painting and this was the provided pattern. I had a lot of fun getting creative and adding some dimension to it by outlining in 3-d paint and gluing on the buttons. This is the second rabbit shirt I have. Something finally to share

I have not posted for a while because it's actually been about a month that I've really created anything. I know that's unusual for me not to be making something on a regular basis. Besides being busy and sick I just haven't been in the swing of things to be crafting. Luckily that's changing and I'm going to be working on more things soon. I did manage to find this picture of a couple of my favorite cards that I created and haven't shared yet. Parchament has been something I've began to have a lot of fun using and have been experimenting with different ways to use it. I always love using my stamps and embossing has become another favorite of mine to do. I love the depth and dimension it gives to a card, don't you?

Pot O' Gold

This is a card I made for a challenge on a stamping website. The requirements to enter were to use stars and I thought this was perfect with St. Patrick's Day coming up. It was a lot of fun to do and I was amazed at how easily it came together. At first, I couldn't figure out how to do the pot, but then thought of one of my cricut carts and there was my answer. I hope everyone has a fun St. Patrick's Day and be sure to create something green for the day.

Think Spring!

I am so ready for spring and it became my theme for this layout for the Imaginisce Sketch Challenge I entered. The sketch was created by Julie Bonner and we were supposed to do our layout from it for the challenge. I found the sketch on the Imaginisce Blog and thought it would be really fun to create a layout using it.

The sketch:

This is my layout: I wanted to get really creative with it so I made the flowers that I had just learned about and instead of using just a regular brad in the center I used some pictures of flower centers that I had taken and turned them into brads by using the i-top brad maker by Imaginisce (I'm loving that tool) and to add some bling to the center I put in some yellow Stickles and used adhesive rhinestone flourishes for the stems. I love bling! Then, I got an idea that I was just so excited over and just had to do it. I ran a piece of laminate through my Purple Cows Laminator (another tool that I'm really loving) and cut it with my die cutting machine. After that I ran it through my embossing machine and created petals for the circles used in the sketch and turned them into a large flower. I am so thrilled with how this layout turned out. The pictures have always been some of my favorites and now they are on a layout that is a favorite of mine, too. A Proud Member of The Lime Light. Come over to see what we are working on. Butterflies and Flowers Card

I made this card for a sketch challenge over on StampTV. The punch used on the turquiose paper was a Valentine's gift from my dh, as well as, the butterfly stamps. I found the paper flowers at a new scrapbook store in my area and decided to dress this one up a little by stamping a butterfly on it and attaching it with a brad that matched the ink color. I placed it so that it would look like the head of the butterfly which helped add some dimension to it.

Altered Clock

This is a clock that I altered for a challenge over at the If It's Groovy Ning group. It was a really inexpensive project. I paid $4 for the clock and found the paper at a dollar store and had everything else in my stash. I have been wanting to do one that I could use in my craft area and thought this was the perfect time to jump in on the challenge and end up with a fun clock to use.

Busy Crafting Week For Me

I have made quite a few things this week and will be sharing them this week. I participated in many challenges on If It's Groovy and the Fiskateer board plus I've done all my design team work for January and part of February. I am so excited over the projects we will be be doing in the upcoming months on both Lime Light and If It's Groovy. Be sure to check them out. Here's one thing I made this week! It was for a snowy challenge over on the Fiskateer board. If you click on the picture you can see the snow actually falling in the night shot.

This is a layout I did for Nikki Ray's Birthday Challenge and wanted to share with all of you. Her challenge is to scrap the day your loved one was born or came home from the hospital. Our son was brought into the world too early and had a heart valve that didn't close. He would turn as blue as a smurf everytime he cried or did anything so he had to be given oxygen. The doctor said it could close but wasn't likely and that he'd either need surgery or medication the rest of his life. Three days after he was born I woke up suddenly early in the morning and called the NICU and was asked by the nurse if I heard a baby crying which I did. She told me that was our son and he wasn't turning blue. When the doctor got there he found nothing wrong~not even the heart valve. It has closed itself. That was the first time my husband and I got to hold our baby. Two days later we got to bring our son home and he's been perfectly healthy since.
